I would like to report on a successful installation of Debian 12 Bookworm on a recent ASUS ExpertBook B1402CBA. Here the problem with the non-responding keyboard during installation could be solved more easily. See below.
1. I purchased a ASUS ExpertBook B1402CBA recently (April-2024). Since this is my 3rd ASUS laptop and every time Linux was possible to run on it in the past, I assumed that there won't be any problem again.
2. I tested first the laptop using a Debian 12 live DVD. Everything seemed OK, but the laptop keyboard did not respond after installation. I thought this is not a real problem and kept the laptop.
3. I installed Debian 12 (with all non-free drivers etc.) from DVD using an external DVD drive, but encountered exactly the same problem as in the post above. The laptop keyboard responded only at the very beginning of the installation process but then later during the process not any more. Mouse worked but keyboard not. This persisted despite various attempts.
4. I used then an external keyboard. This worked without problems. After completion of the installation I did the usual:
a) include the necessary sources in sources.list according to: https://wiki.debian.org/SourcesList ("If you need the contrib, non-free and non-free-firmware components, add contrib non-free non-free-firmware after main. For example, for Debian 12/Bookworm: "
b) Do # apt update, # apt upgrade
After restarting the laptop keyboard worked and still works !!
