1. Used to have proprietary drivers with my Nvidia card
2. Switched to AMD GPU - 7800xt
3. Since then, am not able to boot into Debian. I get black screen with words "Nvidia GPU not detected"/"failed to load amdgpu" and everything freezes on "loading sddm manager"
4. The only way to load into Debian is to set "nomodeset" parameter on bootup, but then everything is either 640x480 or everything is lagging and tearing, unusable
I have so far:
1. Used timeshift to go back to clean debian installation (without nvidia drivers), then updated kernel to 6.9 and all packages — no improvement.
2. Used timeshift to go back to current debian (with Nvidia drivers), purged Nvidia drivers and followed these instructions: https://wiki.debian.org/ChangingFromNvidiaToAmd — no improvement
3. Followed the amd GPU installation guide from Debian docs — no improvement
4. Extracted every single .bin file from kernel directory and put it into lib/firmware as described https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/commen ... o_amd_gpu/
No improvement.
At the same time, Fedora worked with the current installation from the very beginning, I didn't have to do anything. So what am I supposed to do to fix this? Any help appreciated. Thanks.
