Dummy output device - no sound

Hi all,

new user to the forum, however been using Debian for over 15 years as my primary OS, on all my personal computers. To be perfectly honest, no idea how come I did not create a forum account until now :-D

Anyway, I managed to install a bookworm on an old chromebook (intel based) that I have and all good, works fine, however, no sound.

When I open the gnome settings > sound, as "output device" I have "dummy output".
Of course, I did do some searches on the forum before asking, but for the life of me, can't figure it out. No errors whatsoever, dmesg is "clean".

The output for

Code:

 inxi -Axxx
is

Code:

Audio: Device-1: Intel Sunrise Point-LP HD Audio driver: snd_hda_intel v: kernel bus-ID: 00:1f.3 chip-ID: 8086:9d71 class-ID: 0401 API: ALSA v: k6.1.0-23-amd64 status: kernel-api Server-1: PipeWire v: 0.3.65 status: active with: 1: pipewire-pulse status: active 2: wireplumber status: active 3: pipewire-alsa type: plugin
For

Code:

 aplay -l
is

Code:

**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2] Subdevices: 1/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
and if I do a

Code:

aplay /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav
getting a

Code:

Playing WAVE '/usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav' : Signed 16 bit Little Endian, Rate 48000 Hz, Mono
however, no sound output.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, cheers!
