Bios upgrade on Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook e781 vPro possible?

Since March 2019 I am using a donated Fujitsu-Siemens Lifebook e781 vPro as my device for work. I even managed to install more RAM on it than it is supposed to support. I have 12 GB instead if 8. And the device is working well so far.

Recently I bought a used SATA ADATA XPG SX900 512 GB SSD and I wanted to use it as a replacement for my old HDD. I would expect it to make the system boot and loading applications considerably faster. Unfortunately, the SDD doesn't even get recognized in the bios. I found a guide detailing how one could approach this issue. And one of the first steps is to upgrade the bios so that it can recognize newer SSDs. I do have version 1.18 from 2012 while the newest available version would be 1.23 from 2017. Unfortunately, Fujitsu provides only an .exe file for older Windows versions and none for GNU/Linux.

Is it even possible to upgrade the bios of this device on Debian? Or would it be easiest to look for a cheap used Windows system with a hard disk I could temporarily plug into this laptop for the bios upgrade?

I need to admit that there is some doubt that the SSD is working despite the seller claiming that he used it before without any issues. I tried putting it in three different systems and none was able to recognize it. But I figure an updated bios in my laptop couldn't hurt anyway ...
