I could be called a relatively new Linux user, but fortunately I found Debian soon and have been really happy with the experience since I migrated to Linux from Windows. But one particular issue has made me still use Windows, albeit in a VM configuration, that is the issue with rendering of the Devnagari fonts. So the issue is that although all the other alphabets and symbols do correctly work in Debian with the installation of the language pack, but when it comes to this particular character 'ra' (र) and its use with the half sound symbol 'halanta' ( ् ), it's supposed to combine band become two different symbols depending upon the context. But instead the Debian OS just keeps them rendering separately (like र्) and this messes up the rendering of many words as the R sound is pretty commonly used in both Hindi and Nepal. I was getting used to Ubuntu last month but it didn't work as stable as Debian has, but Ubuntu didn't have this problem. However, Linux Mint and Manjaro also have the same problem as Debian has when it comes to just the rendering of that character. However, it's funny how those problems don't happen in LibreOffice or even on this forum, although that problem does come in Google Docs, Sheets, etc.
If this issue were solved like in Ubuntu, I think many Linguists like me could more seamlessly migrate to Debian. So any help on this issue would be really appreciated. Is there anyone here from Indian and Nepali Debian community that could help with this?
