swaylock ext-session-lock-v1

Hi All,

I am on Debian 12.5 BookwormI tried/compiled few locking tools (swaylock, waylock, gtklock) only to see that ext-session-lock-v1 is not supported.
I installed wayland-protocols which includes ext-session-lock in /usr/share/wayland-protocols/staging/

I have been told that something is wrong with the compositor: https://github.com/swaywm/swaylock/issues/348
But here I am a total noob.

I thought gnome-shell is my compositor?
How can I enable this ext-session-lock?
Do I need to recompile gnome-shell?
